Bishop's 2007 Advent Message
My dear brothers and sisters let me offer you the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ this Advent season.Sometimes Advent can feel like a burden - we carry the weight of the departing light, the growing cold, and painful memories of loved ones lost to us.
Also, as the family of God, we face difficult times as we seek to meaningfully care for the wounds of those who have been harmed by ministers, staff and volunteers.
As always, Jesus is the way. We wait to celebrate His birth, but we also live in the kingdom He promised. The candle flame of our baptism burns brightest in the darkness, and that light only grows when we share it.
As you decorate your homes and light the Advent candles, also offer the flame of your faith with your family, friends and those in need. In this way Advent will blaze with God's grace, peace and love.
May God bless and bring you joy.
