Subject: Retirement of Reverend Kasparaj Mallavarapu and Assignments for Reverend Ross Tozzi, and Reverend Robert Fath

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Fr. Kasparaj Mallavarapu has requested early retirement and I have granted his request; his retirement will become effective on 30 September 2019. Fr. Kasparj has served the Diocese of Fairbanks eleven years and the Archdiocese of Anchorage for ten years and three months with a servant's heart and we are truly grateful. Due to the retirement of Fr. Kasparaj, I have made the following assignment changes

Effective 30 August 2019 at 12:00pm, Fr. Ross Tozzi will be appointed as Pastor of St. Raphael Catholic Church. Fr. Ross Tozzi will remain Rector of Sacred Heart Cathedral. In addition, Fr. Ross Tozzi is appointed Vicar for Clergy and consecrated life effective 5 August 2019.

Effective 30 August 2019 at 12:00pm, Fr. Robert Fath will be appointed as Pastor of Saint Patrick Parish in Barrow and Parochial Administrator of St. Marks Parish until such time as a pastor is appointed. Fr. Robert Fath will remain Chaplain of the Catholic Schools of Fairbanks and Vocations Director. Fr. Thomas Sagi. He will remain Parochial Vicar of Saint Patrick's Parish. In addition, Fr. Robert Fath is appointed as Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia effective 5 August 2019.

As we transition priests to retirement, please continue to pray for vocations in the Diocese of Fairbanks.

Sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend Chad W. Zielinski
Catholic Bishop of Northern Alaska
Diocese of Fairbanks
