Catholic Bishop of Northern Alaska
Alaska can be an inhospitable place. Our priests and other ministers often travel between several villages in inclement weather, to offer the sacrifice of the Mass, or other pastoral support. Forty of our forty-eight parishes are missionary parishes, which are unable to financially support themselves. For many of our peoples, a subsistence lifestyle is both a cultural and practical norm in remote Alaskan villages.
The ministers and people of our diocese rely on the graces and support you offer in the form of prayer. We know that God listens to and answers the prayers of his faithful people, and we are grateful for your offered intercessions.
Please join us in praying the following three Novenas throughout the year:
(Moveable annual Novena that begins on the feast of the Holy Family, in December, and ends on the feast of the Epiphany.)
Heavenly Father, through the intercession of Our Lady of the Arctic Snows, please bless my family with a shower of graces from your merciful heart. Give us strength to overcome our struggles and guide us to unite ourselves to one another in devotion to the Gospel. May the example of the Holy Family, with the aid of your Holy Spirit, protect us against all difficulties we may encounter and urge us to live truthful, compassionate and faith-filled lives. May the love that binds us only grow stronger as we walk closer with you. Please help us to actively encourage vocations to the priesthood and religious life within our homes. Grant me and my family forgiveness for any sins we have committed and help us to forgive each other. Lord please grant a return to the church and sacraments for any of my family who have drifted away. During this special family novena to Mary under her title Our Lady of the Arctic Snows, I humbly ask for this special intention:_________________________________________. Amen.
Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory Be to the Father.
Our Lady of the Arctic Snows, Pray For Us.
Please join us for the Novena in Honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. June 15-23 O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, you said: "Ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you." With confidence in your loving, compassionate Heart I come to you as the fountain of every blessing. I ask you to make my heart humble and holy like yours. Grant me to live a holy life and to die a happy death. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on me! |
To the friends and benefactors of the Missionary Diocese of Fairbanks.
In September we begin our annual Novena to the Patroness of the missions of Alaska, St. Therese, "The Little Flower." The Novena will begin on September 23 and will end on the Feast of St. Therese, October 1. On each of these days a Mass will be offered for our friends and for their needs and petitions.
You are invited to submit petitions to be remembered during the novena. No offering is necessary. Any received will be used to support our ministries here in Northern Alaska.
All petitions will be read and remembered in the Masses offered during these nine days.
"O Lord, who said, unless you become as little children you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven, grant us, we beseech you, to so follow in the way of Blessed Therese in humility and simplicity that through her intercession these petitions and those of all our members may be granted as part of the shower of roses she promised to send upon this earth."
